The center of the display base is painted dark gray & black to represent  'scorching' caused by the X-M's engines on landing.
The plaque for the base was replaced by a sticker made in Corel Paintshop.

GREEN SCREEN - The INVADERS
UFO coming in for a landing in a
remote desert area.  The model was
photographed against a green
screen and the background was
added in Corel Paintshop.
FOREST TAKE-OFF:  In my vignette, THE
INVADERS have just deposited two more
agents in a clearing near the edge of a
large forest.  The agents (foreground)
watch as their UFO lifts off to return to its
secret base for its next assignment.
A mix of model RR trees and shrubs created
my forest landscape, along with some real
rocks and a mixture of gravel and sand and
grass ground-cover.
To create the 'in-flight' look I wanted for the
UFO, I mounted it on a black plastic tube,
set at a sharp upward angle to better
convey the sense of 'lifting off'.
I watched several INVADERS episodes to determine what the UFO lighting effects looked like in the TV show.  My model
features correct white lights spinning around the flight cabin area, flashing blue engine pods and an illuminated orange main
drive at the center of the UFO. The blue engine lighting casts a wonderfully eerie light over the forest scene below the saucer.
Another 'green screen' shot shows three INVADER UFOs in the night sky with a crescent moon in the distance behind them.
The Altair background was green-screened into the photo.  The landscape is real sand and real rocks.  This shot shows the
lighting feature added to the stair-case ramp.  Note the scale Robby in the foreground.
The rocketship & display base are both solid
cast-resin.
Photo (above) shows XM on the moon, with the
Earth in the distance.
Figures from the kit stand in the foreground
giving the scene a sense of scale & depth.

Note the lighting control switches on the left
side of the display base.
